PRIMAL SCREAM "BEAUTIFUL FUTURE"
Ya habiamos comentado este blog el anterior disco de los ingleses Primal Scream. Se forman en 1984 en Glasgow de la mano del, aún por aquel entonces, batería de los Jesus and Mary Chain, Bobby Gillespie. La formación firma un contrato con Creation Records en 1985 y un año después saca un par de sencillos. Pero el grupo no acaba de cuajar hasta que Gillespie no decide abandonar a Jesus and Mary Chain y los guitarras Andrew Innes y Robert Young se unen al resto de la banda. Su disco debut, "Sonic Flower Groove", fue bien recibido entre la comunidad indie, al igual que su siguiente entrega, "Primal Scream", lleno de referencias hard rock. El grupo escocés es uno de los pocos que quedan en el panorama musical de toda la remesa de grupos pseudipsicodélicos que surgieron en Inglaterra a principios de los años 90.

Y es que su nuevo disco Beautiful Future tiene una mezcla de varios estilos que se hace muy agradable de escuchar. La canción que abre el disco "Beautiful Future" suena a "friday I´m in Love" de The Cure, la segunda canción "Can´t go back" es una de las más rockeras y contundentes del disco, una gran candidata a estar entre las mejores canciones del año, hay pequeñas joyas experimentales, pocas baladas, muy buenas guitarras, estribillos pegadizos.
Creo que pese a haber pasado tantos años desde su album de éxito han sabido mantenerse, hacer lo que realmente les gusta y ofrecer canciones estupendas para un público supongo que lo suficientemente fiel para admirarlos.

STONE GODS-Silver Spuns and Broken Bones
Tras la marcha del vocalista de The Darkness Justin Hawkins en el año 2006, los miembros de la banda decidieron continuar y formaron un nuevo grupo bajo el nombre Stone Gods, que podriamos enclavar dentro de un estilo rock en algunas ocasiones duro o incluso revival , por sus semejanzas en algunas canciones con grupos como Judast Priest o Metallica. Richie Edwards es el nuevo cantante, el mismo que tocaba el bajo en el primitivo The Darkness. Quizás sean un poquito más duros que sus predecesores, pero no dejan de ser meros imitadores tocando bien las guitarras en el siglo XXI.
Por cierto que The Darkness acaba de editar un disco de 18 canciones bajo el título "The Platinum Collection", merece la pena para nostalgicos.

La politica de retransmisiones de la eurocopa 2008
Me resulta bastante extraño lo que está haciendo sogecable con las retransmisiones de la eurocopa 2008.
Resulta que algunos partidos se transmiten por la cadena cuatro, entre ellos el de la inauguración y los de España y alguno mas, pero no todos, si quieres ver todos los partidos de la eurocopa te tienes que apuntar a canal plus o a digital plus, que es donde se transmiten.
No se si habrá aumentado mucho el número de abonados a Canal + debido a la Eurocopa pero quiero suponer que no. Si alguien se ha dado de alta solo para la Eurocopa no se supone que le interese seguir dado de alta todo el verano, cuando la liga no empieza hasta septiembre y con la incertidumbre de si Sogecable o Mediapro tienen los derechos de retransmisión de partidos. Si es un cinéfilo lo puedo comprender, pero con las facilidades que da internet esto supone una tontería ahora mismo.
Si pensamos en un Domingo como hoy, con la Liga de primera división ya terminada, si el partido lo trasnmiten en abierto supongo que habrá bastante audiencia que se engancha, pero si lo da canal+ no creo que haya mucha gente que se desplace a un bar o a casa de uno de los abonados para ver el encuentro, porque si te pones a pensar un Rumania-Francia no es tan interesante, pero si lo dan gratis la cosa cambia.
En fin creo que es una política bastante erronea porque si el partido no se da en abierto se buscará otra opción para pasar el tiempo libre, pero los que han hecho masteres y cosas de este tipo sabrán mucho mas del tema, en mi opinión se equivocan terriblemente.
