Support the work of climate change scientists

Independent, respected climate scientists are coming under attack from the political right in the United States, most recently from Texas Republican Rep. Joe Barton.
The targets this time are the three highest profile climatologists who demonstrated temperatures are now higher than at any point for the last thousand years. For this work, dubbed the 'Hockey Stick' (because the graph pitches sharply upwards in the present day), and since confirmed and repeated by dozens of other studies, Michael Mann, Raymond Bradley and Malcolm Hughes have become targets of a McCarthyite political witch-hunt.
Barton has demanded that impossible amounts of information be submitted to the House Committee on Energy and Resources by the deadline of July 11. By any reckoning, these demands, of people who are already extremely busy doing important work, constitutes harrassment. Please add your voice to the campaign supporting these three scientists, and climate scientists more widely, by signing this petition to tell Joe Barton and his collaborators to back off.
Asking questions is fine, but political harrassment is not. Above all, your support will help to protect the objectivity of independent climate science and keep it out of the politicians' grasp. Only with a base of rigorous science can we hope to confront the realities of global warming.
